Three-core XLPE 150 kV submarine electrical interconnection between Kyllini and Zakynthos, approximately 23 km in total length and rated around 200 MVA, replacing the previous 1980s cable.
Fulgor S.A., a member of the Hellenic Cables Group, was selected by IPTO through a competitive tender and contracted as the main contractor for the upgrade of the Kyllini–Zakynthos electrical interconnection. Following the unsealing of the tender in mid‑2022, Fulgor executed the replacement of the ageing 150 kV link with a new three‑core XLPE submarine cable system of about 23 km total length and 200 MVA capacity. Working under IPTO’s oversight, Fulgor delivered the project on an accelerated schedule of roughly one year from tender to commissioning, managing construction activities for installation of the new cable system so that the upgraded interconnection could be electrified ahead of peak summer demand and secure the supply of Zakynthos and the wider Ionian network.
