SP Energy Networks and project partners marked the start of onshore construction at the Hunterston converter station on 7 March 2014. The Energy Minister Michael Fallon and SP representatives attended a ceremony to officially mark the commencement of works on the ‘North Shore Converter Station’ at Hunterston, Ayrshire. The activity formed the onshore construction enabling works for the Western HVDC Link, a joint project between ScottishPower (SP Transmission) and National Grid to install a 600 kV HVDC subsea link between western Scotland and North Wales.
