On 29 August 2012, ABB was awarded an order by Statoil to install high-voltage subsea cables to supply power from shore to the Troll A gas platform, including pre-studies, cable laying, and installation of about 350 km of high-voltage AC and DC cables as part of the upgrade to power two new gas compressors from land-based HVDC systems.
