Crompton Greaves (CG) was awarded a contract covering a grid connection study and the design and supply of the high-voltage installation required to comply with Elia’s grid connection requirements for the Northwind offshore wind farm’s 220 kV connection to shore at Zeebrugge, which later formed the shared export connection used by Northwind and Nobelwind. CG’s scope included the offshore high-voltage substation and the onshore location (auxiliary systems) and supply of major substation equipment including a 225/33 kV 275 MVA main transformer and two 33 kV 65 MVAr reactors for reactive power compensation.
