Normandie 1 (N1) is a 100 MW 90 kV HVAC 3-core subsea interconnector between Surville (Normandy, France) and Archirondel (Jersey), consisting of a single submarine circuit of about 27 km plus an associated 2 km land cable connection to the French grid.
Seatrench, a Norwegian subsea contractor, was engaged on the Normandie 1 (N1) project to provide post‑lay protection near the Jersey landfall. Working in St Catherine’s Bay, Seatrench used specialist trenching equipment to bury approximately 1 km of the N1 submarine power cable beneath the seabed and assist in reinstating conditions close to the sea wall. This burial and protection scope formed part of the final installation phase of the 100 MW interconnector prior to it entering service.
