Seatrench is a specialist shallow-water trenching and nearshore contractor serving the telecom, power, renewable energy and oil and gas industries. Originating from the 2009 merger of Marine Trench and Subsea Trenching Services and founded in 1995, the company focuses on subsea burial of power cables, fibre optic cables, umbilicals, FLEXI and PEH pipes with concrete weights, rigid pipelines and related products. It provides integrated trenching, survey, diving and cable installation services, including shore-end landings and beach and shoreside cable lay and installation, and performs all onshore and offshore work in accordance with international and domestic HSE rules and client-specific procedures.
Seatrench operates worldwide from a main office in Norway with sales or departmental bases in Europe, the UAE, South East Asia, Thailand and Abu Dhabi, and has regional entities such as Seatrench Asia Pte. Ltd. in Singapore and Seatrench Offshore Philippines Ltd. Inc. The company owns and operates a self-designed, built and run fleet comprising four trenching rigs and four pumping barges, configured as standalone trenching systems requiring relatively few support vessels and containerised for fast mobilisation, including in locations with strong currents and harsh weather. Its equipment is designed for seabed conditions of sand, silt, gravel and clay, jettable soil strengths up to 350 kPa, trench depths up to 3 m and water depths up to 50 m, and uses oil-free systems intended to avoid pollution and minimise disturbance to the seabed through narrow, environmentally sensitive cuts.
Seatrench’s track record includes projects for clients such as CTC Marine, JP Kenny, Total, E Marine, McDermott, Reliance, Metco Marine and Triasmitra, with work scopes ranging from telecom FO cables and export power cables to steel pipelines and umbilicals in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, including offshore wind and pipeline burial campaigns in India, Korea and Indonesia.
