In December 1999 the Danish Energy Agency issued the final permit for the Middelgrunden offshore wind farm, authorising construction of the 40 MW project off Copenhagen, whose turbines are connected to the Amagerværket power station by a 30 kV subsea export cable approximately 3.5 km long.
