Lifetime Extension

By 2023, technical studies had been completed confirming that the Middelgrunden wind farm, which is connected to the Amagerværket power plant by a 3.5 km, 30 kV subsea cable, could have its operational lifetime extended by a further 25 years. In the context of considering repowering options, project stakeholders decided that installing a new sea cable was not economically justified, and instead pursued a lifetime extension approach focused on modernising internet, sensor and SCADA systems and replacing major components as needed while retaining the existing export cable connection.
