After two years of negotiations, a contract between the Middelgrunden Cooperative and Copenhagen Utility was established in 1998, formalising a 50/50 joint ownership structure for the Middelgrunden offshore wind project and its associated 30kV subsea grid connection to the Amager power station. This agreement created the co-development framework under which the utility and the cooperative jointly financed and developed the wind farm and export cable.
