HDD works and HDPE ducts for the 132 kV HVAC cable landfalls of the Playa Blanca (Lanzarote) – La Oliva (Fuerteventura) interconnection.
CEBAT S.p.A. was awarded by Prysmian Group the horizontal directional drilling (HDD) scope for the sea-landings of the 132 kV HVAC interconnection between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Its contract covers drilling through basaltic ground at the Playa Blanca and La Oliva landfalls and the supply, welding and pulling of large-diameter HDPE pipes through which the interconnector cable will be installed as it transitions from subsea to underground sections on both islands. By using HDD rather than open-cut methods, CEBAT’s work protects coastal environments and beaches while providing robust mechanical protection for the onshore cable sections. The HDD works for the Lanzarote–Fuerteventura link were scheduled for completion in 2021.
