Kentish Flats – Red House Farm 33 kV MVAC export cable system (3 parallel cables, Hampton Pier landfall, total route length about 10.6 km including subsea and land sections) connecting the Kentish Flats offshore wind farm to the onshore grid near Herne Bay.
In 2005, Global Marine Systems completed the installation of the submarine export power cables for the Kentish Flats offshore wind farm. Working off Herne Bay in the Thames Estuary, the company installed the subsea export and associated cabling that connect the 30‑turbine array to shore. The export cable system comes ashore at Hampton Pier and continues inland towards the existing substation near Herne Bay, forming the Kentish Flats Export 33 kV transmission link between the offshore turbines and the UK grid. This role covered offshore cable-laying and related subsea installation activities during the construction phase of the project.
