In 2005, Global Marine Systems completed installation of the submarine power cables for the Kentish Flats offshore wind farm off Herne Bay, providing the subsea export and associated cabling that connect the 30‑turbine array to shore. These export cables, which come ashore at Hampton Pier and run inland to the existing substation near Herne Bay, form the Kentish Flats Export transmission link between the offshore turbines and the UK grid.
