The consortium of ALSTOM Grid S.p.A and ALSTOM Grid Hellas A.E. was contracted by IPTO for Group C of the Cycladic Islands Interconnection, delivering four 150/20 kV GIS onshore substations at Lavrio, Syros, Paros and Mykonos. The scope included design, engineering, supply and installation of GIS switchgear, transformers, MV and LV switchgear, as well as control, protection, automation and telecommunication systems. The new Syros GIS substation serves as the central hub for Phase A, receiving power from Lavrio and feeding the radial submarine links to Paros, Mykonos and Tinos, including the Syros–Tinos 150 kV cable. These substations were constructed as part of the 2015–2017 implementation period for Phase A, which was completed in early 2018. [Note: quantity of 2 refers to the substations on this specific link (Syros and Tinos), not the full Phase A programme of 4 substations.]
