The consortium of ABB A.B. and ABB A.E. was responsible for Group D of the Cycladic Islands Interconnection, supplying, installing and maintaining a Static Var Compensator (SVC) rated at –100/+250 MVar at the Syros 150 kV GIS substation. The SVC provides dynamic reactive power compensation and voltage support for the Cyclades transmission node, improving stability and power quality for all Phase A submarine links, including the Syros–Tinos 150 kV AC connection. The contract covered delivery of the SVC equipment, integration into the Syros substation, commissioning and a five‑year maintenance period, supporting reliable operation of the newly interconnected island network.
