In November 2006, a Greek ministerial decision designated the Cyclades interconnection project—which includes the Syros‑centred 150 kV links later implemented in Phase A, such as the Syros–Tinos cable—as a project of “major importance for the country’s economy,” reflecting its strategic role in connecting Syros, Mykonos, Paros, Naxos and strengthening the Andros–Tinos interconnection with the mainland grid.
