Environmental permit for the entire IPTO Cyclades interconnection project, which includes the subsea 150 kV cable connections among Syros, Tinos, Mykonos, Paros and the Greek mainland, was granted by the competent authorities in September 2009 following consultations with stakeholders and local communities. The permit, based on EIAs for all GIS substations, concluded that with specified mitigation measures the project would not cause significant adverse environmental effects or harm protected European sites.
