Planning Consent Awarded

The Greek Ministry of Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works (ΥΠΕΧΩΔΕ), through a decision signed by Minister Giorgos Souflias, approved the environmental terms for the project interconnecting the Cyclades with the Greek interconnected electricity transmission system. The consent covers the 150 kV AC connection from the Lavrio Extra High Voltage Centre (ΚΥΤ Λαυρίου) to the new Syros substation and the subsequent submarine links from Syros to Paros, Mykonos and Tinos (with Naxos assisting the Paros–Mykonos section), subject to fire safety rules and avoidance of protected areas; the decision was published in the Government Gazette on 3 December 2008, providing development consent for the Cyclades Phase A section including the Syros–Mykonos cable.
