ABB was responsible for the design and supply of the Thornton Bank (C-Power) project’s complete electrical infrastructure, stated to include the offshore transformer station (OTS), array and export cables, onshore grid connection, and protection and control system. ABB was also described as contracted for the supply and connection of the marine export and in-field power cables, and for preventive maintenance of the offshore transformer station. A contract value of US$125m was reported for ABB’s award for the second and third phases, which included installation of associated electrical infrastructure such as the second 150 kV export cable.
