Supply and installation of 52km of 170kV high voltage power export cable with an optical fibre insert for Belwind phase I; delivered to Van Oord as EPC contractor.
Nexans won a contract to supply the subsea power export cable for phase 1 of the Belwind (Bligh Bank) offshore wind farm in Belgium. Nexans was to manufacture and supply 52 km of 170 kV high-voltage three-core XLPE export cable with an optical fibre insert, delivering it to the Dutch EPC contractor Van Oord Dredging & Marine Contractors b.v. Nexans also undertook installation, with the cable to be laid by the company’s cable-laying vessel C/S Nexans Skagerrak and buried using the CapJet trenching system. The optical fibre elements were to be manufactured at Nexans’ Rognan plant in Norway and the export cable at its Halden facility in Norway.
