On 11 July 2018, REN – Rede Eléctrica Nacional, Portugal’s transmission grid operator, awarded China’s Hengtong a contract to design, manufacture and install the approximately 18 km, 150 kV submarine export power cable system connecting the 25 MW WindFloat Atlantic floating wind farm offshore Viana do Castelo to the onshore grid, with DeepOcean engaged as Hengtong’s marine installation contractor.
