WindFloat Atlantic Export is the HVAC grid connection for the ~25 MW WindFloat Atlantic floating wind farm located ~20 km offshore Viana do Castelo, Portugal. Sources describe a single submarine export cable connection rated at 150 kV with an ~18–20 km offshore route to a landfall at Viana do Castelo (north bank/north pier area), where REN built a switchyard/sectioning substation. From there, an onshore underground cable connects to the existing Monserrate substation (60/15 kV) in Viana do Castelo.
Landfall options
Export cable comes ashore at Viana do Castelo on the north bank/north pier area; beach landing protection (CPS) used at the beach landing.
Grid connection options
Connection to onshore grid at the existing Monserrate Substation (60/15 kV) in Viana do Castelo (distribution network, operated by E-REDES), via a switchyard/sectioning substation built by REN at/near the landfall.
