SSEN Transmission plans to complete construction and commission the Lewis Hub onshore AC substation and HVDC converter station at Arnish, forming the onshore terminal for the Western Isles HVDC Link, by 2030. The multi-phase works include enabling and civil construction, building the converter and substation facilities, equipment fit-out, and a final testing and commissioning phase, after which the infrastructure will be commissioned to enable generator connections and full project energisation.
