In July 2011, NKT Cables signed a contract with DONG Energy and ScottishPower Renewables to supply and install the high-voltage export and onshore land cables for the West of Duddon Sands project, comprising 82 km of 155 kV export cables with integrated fibre optics and 22 km of 155 kV land cables, with installation of these transmission cables planned to take place in 2013 after manufacturing in 2012–2013.
