In 2009 the Hywind Demo floating wind turbine at the METCentre off Karmøy (now Unitech Zefyros) and its 22 kV HVAC export connection to the onshore grid at Skudeneshavn entered operational service, with the subsea cable reliably transmitting the turbine’s 2.3 MW output to shore and delivering renewable electricity to the grid.
