Nexans was awarded a contract worth over EUR 35 million by J Murphy & Sons Ltd to supply the 220 kV land export cable and accessories for the Triton Knoll grid connection between the landfall near Anderby and the new Triton Knoll substation at Bicker Fen. The land export system was described as two circuits, each comprising three individual XLPE-insulated AC cables with an aluminium conductor (implying a total supplied single-core cable length of ~342 km based on a ~57 km route length). Nexans’ teams were also to carry out jointing works using purpose-designed cable-jointing containers positioned on joint bays built by Murphy, with commissioning and testing expected in summer 2020.
