On 15 December 2010, the shareholders of Trianel Wind Farm Borkum (Phase 1) took the formal building decision for the 200 MW offshore wind farm, clearing the way for construction to start in summer 2011. Phase 1, comprising 40 Adwen/Areva 5 MW turbines on tripod foundations, was reported to have a construction cost of about €900 million.
