Ofgem reached financial close and granted Thanet OFTO Limited a licence on 17 December 2014 to own and operate the £164 million transmission link connecting the 300 MW Thanet offshore wind farm to the onshore grid. This decision closed Tender Round 1 of the UK’s Offshore Transmission Owner regime, transferring the completed transmission assets from the wind farm developer to the dedicated OFTO entity and securing the long-term regulated financing structure for the link.
