On 28 December 2022, the Dirección General de Industria y Energía issued Resolution No. 2154/2022 granting administrative authorisation and declaring public utility for the high-voltage installations of the "Nuevo enlace eléctrico submarino, doble circuito, entre la subestación Chío (Tenerife) y la subestación El Palmar (La Gomera)" and the associated El Palmar substation works, allowing the Tenerife–La Gomera interconnector project to proceed and enabling the necessary expropriations in the municipalities of Guía de Isora and San Sebastián de La Gomera.
