Red Eléctrica completed the new 66 kV Chío substation in Guía de Isora, Tenerife, in December 2024. The GIS-equipped facility, housed within a building to minimise space and visual impact, is a strategic node on the island’s western transmission grid and serves as the Tenerife landfall and connection point for the 36 km double‑circuit submarine link to La Gomera, enabling secure operation of the Tenerife–La Gomera interconnection.
