On 26 February 2021, the official presentation of the Tenerife–La Gomera submarine electricity interconnection project took place in the meeting hall of the La Gomera Island Council. Regional and island authorities, together with Red Eléctrica’s transmission division management, publicly outlined the project’s objectives, including improving security of supply, enabling greater renewable energy integration and reducing fossil fuel dependence on both islands.
