Cable Supplier Selected

On 18 July 2022, Prysmian Group was awarded a turnkey contract by Red Eléctrica to design, supply, install and commission the 66 kV HVAC double‑circuit three‑core submarine power cable linking Tenerife and La Gomera, as part of a €250 million package that also includes a separate mainland–Ceuta interconnection. The Tenerife–La Gomera scope covers a record‑depth (nearly 1,150 m) submarine cable system with EPR insulation and synthetic‑wire armouring, to be manufactured at Prysmian’s Norderham and Pikkala plants and installed using its own cable‑laying vessel, with commissioning targeted for 2025.
