The Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform granted Section 36 consent under the Electricity Act 1989 for the Teesside Offshore Wind Farm on 17 September 2007, authorising the construction and operation of an offshore wind farm of up to 100 MW comprising up to 30 turbines located about 1.5 km off Redcar at the mouth of the River Tees. The project company subsequently received the associated Section 36 consent and FEPA licences for the offshore works in September 2007, completing the main offshore planning and development approvals for the scheme.
