Teesside Offshore Wind Farm (often referred to in sources as Teesside or Redcar Wind Farm) is a small, near‑shore Round‑1 project off the North Yorkshire coast, sited immediately north of the mouth of the River Tees near Redcar. The development comprises a compact array of 27 turbines delivering a nameplate capacity of about 62 MW and was one of the early commercial UK offshore projects completed in the 2010s. Construction began in the early 2010s; the array was commissioned in 2013 and formally opened the following year. Built and developed under EDF’s offshore umbrella, the project represents an early example of close‑shore, hard‑mounted foundations and relatively modest export distances compared with later, larger offshore parks. Its proximity to shore and modest scale meant the project’s export works are short and tie back to the onshore network at Redcar/Lackenby rather than requiring a large offshore substation footprint. Operationally the wind farm has been operated under EDF’s Teesside operating structure since commissioning and has been part of the company’s portfolio of small legacy Round‑1 assets. The project’s delivery followed the UK’s early offshore consenting and construction pathways and provides a reference point for early‑era project economics and consenting practice in the shallow, close‑shore North Sea environment.
