EDF Energy Renewables was awarded a 22-year Crown Estate seabed lease in 2004 to develop the Teesside offshore wind farm, a 27-turbine 62 MW project sited east of the mouth of the River Tees and 1.5 km north of Redcar. The lease was awarded as part of the first phase (Round 1) of UK offshore wind farm development.
