In 2000, post-installation environmental surveys along the SwePol Link route were conducted to assess the effects of the submarine HVDC cable, repeating seabed inspections, benthic sampling and magnetic-field measurements, and concluding one year after laying that no significant mechanical seabed disturbance or zoobenthos changes attributable to the cable were detectable and that magnetic-field changes beyond about 20 m from the cable did not exceed natural variability.
