On 14 December 2010, following several months of work and negotiations involving relevant stakeholders and regulatory authorities from both Poland and Sweden, all necessary agreements for market-based capacity allocation on the SwePol Link interconnector were concluded. These included the multilateral SwePol Link Market Coupling Agreement between the Polish and Swedish transmission system operators (PSE Operator S.A. and Affärsverket Svenska Kraftnät), the Polish and Scandinavian power exchanges (Towarowa Giełda Energii S.A. and Nord Pool Spot AS), and the owners of SwePol Link (SwePol Link AB and SwePol Link (Poland) Sp. z o.o.). The agreements enabled implementation of a market coupling mechanism on SwePol Link via implicit auctions operated by the two power exchanges from 15 December 2010, which was the first day for submitting bids, with 16 December 2010 as the first delivery day for accepted bids.
