On 31 December 2010, Poland’s energy regulator, the Urząd Regulacji Energetyki (URE), issued a formal decision designating Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne Operator S.A. (PSE Operator S.A.) as the electricity transmission system operator for the Polish part of the SwePol Link HVDC interconnector between Poland and Sweden. Under this decision, PSE Operator S.A. became responsible for operating the transmission system on the Polish section of SwePol Link, providing non-discriminatory and transparent access to its available transmission capacity, and fulfilling the statutory duties of a transmission system operator under Poland’s Energy Law. The designation was granted for a fixed period, remaining valid until 1 July 2014.
