During the planning and preparation phase in 1997–1998, SwePol Link carried out detailed route and design studies across the Baltic Sea, analysing potential technical solutions and alternative cable routes and selecting the optimal, environmentally safe seabed route for the HVDC transmission line between Sweden and Poland.
