DELAYED +2yr (Apr 2026): Energinet's project documentation for the 132 kV ORH-SPA cable (Spanager–Haslev–Vordingborg–Orehoved) expected the cable to be in service by end-2025, implying construction on land would have been under way by 2023–24. However, the environmental assessment process for the project (Miljøstyrelsens idéoplæg November 2023 and Energinet’s October 2023 application) only started in late 2023, and there is no evidence by April 2026 of final environmental approval or of large-scale civil works along the route. Given the late start of permitting and typical Danish timelines (1–2 years for EIA and permits plus 2–3 years for building ~65 km of cable and three new substations), the previously projected April 2025 onshore construction start is no longer realistic. Construction start is therefore pushed to around 2027, ahead of a later commissioning date. --- Energinet plans to start construction works in April 2025 on the new 132 kV ORH‑SPA cable connection between Spanager, Vordingborg Nord and Orehoved, including associated high-voltage stations, to reinforce the grid and enable increased transmission of renewable electricity across the Storstrøm area.
