DELAYED +2yr (Apr 2026): Energinet’s October 2023 project description for the 132 kV ORH-SPA cable states that the cable connection was expected to be commissioned (idriftsat) by end-2025. This drove an earlier COD assumption around 2025/26, which had already been adjusted to 2027-12-31. However, the environmental assessment process only began in late 2023 and was still at the scoping/application stage, with no later evidence by April 2026 of a completed EIA, final permits, or major construction along the route. Earlier milestones such as onshore construction start and subsea installation have therefore slipped by at least 2–3 years. Allowing roughly 1–2 years to complete permitting from late 2023 plus 2–3 years for construction and commissioning of ~65 km of cable and three new substations, a full-power commercial operation date in 2027 appears optimistic. The COD is therefore moved to 2029 (end-year placeholder) as a more realistic in-service window, while noting Energinet’s original ‘ultimo 2025’ ambition. Energinet's 2024 Geografisk projektliste now places the related "132 kV Lolland og Sydsjælland fase 3+4 (…Vordingborg Nord‑Orehoved…)" project in 2027, so COD is moved to late 2027 for consistency. --- Project documentation for the 132 kV ORH–SPA cable connection between station Spanager, station Vordingborg Nord, and Orehoved, which includes a crossing of the Storstrøm, states that the cable is expected to be commissioned and in operation in Q4 2026 to help transport increasing volumes of renewable electricity from Lolland-Falster and South Zealand to major consumption areas. An earlier note mentions the cable was expected to be in service by the end of 2025, but the detailed timetable now indicates an updated planned in-service date in the fourth quarter of 2026.
