In May 2005, Public Power Corporation of Greece awarded Nexans a EUR 20 million turnkey contract for the supply and installation of 150 kV submarine and terrestrial cables for the energy and communications link between Sagiada on the Greek mainland and Agios Vassilios on Corfu. The scope covered delivery and installation of 68 km of 150 kV submarine cable laid at water depths of up to 70 metres across the strait between mainland Epirus and Corfu, together with 16 km of 150 kV underground cable buried onshore at both landfalls. The high-voltage transmission link provides a capacity of 175 MW and also carries telecommunications capacity. The contract covered the complete cable system from manufacturer to installed and tested asset, with Nexans responsible for both the submarine and onshore cable segments. The project was reported as scheduled for completion by April 2006, and ADMIE's July 2024 tender notice for a third Corfu interconnection confirms that two 150 kV cable lines currently connect Corfu to the mainland, confirming this link has been operational since approximately mid-2006.
