Description
TenneT Offshore GmbH awarded NKT a turnkey contract for the Riffgat (NOR-0-1) offshore grid connection’s 155 kV HVAC export cable system. From 2011 to 2014, NKT planned and engineered the export cable system, manufactured the high-voltage submarine cable, and executed its offshore installation and final testing. The scope covered a single-circuit AC export link sized to transmit around 108–113 MW from the Borkum Riffgat offshore wind farm in the German North Sea to the German onshore transmission grid near Emden/Borssum. NKT’s order comprised approximately 51 km of 155 kV HVAC export cable and a cable route of about 48 km, delivered as a complete turnkey package including material production, cable-laying and commissioning of the export system for TenneT.
