In the period up to 2014, NKT completed final testing of the 155 kV HVAC export cable system for the Riffgat (NOR-0-1) offshore grid connection, as part of a turnkey contract for TenneT Offshore GmbH covering planning, manufacturing, cable-laying and testing of the approximately 48 km cable route linking the Borkum Riffgat offshore wind farm in the German North Sea to the German electricity grid.
Riffgat grid connection system commissioned and operational.
By late December 2012, the export power cable for the Riffgat offshore grid connection between the Riffgat offshore wind farm in the German North Sea and the mainland had been laid for the future substation, establishing the physical subsea route that will carry generated energy ashore as part of TenneT’s turnkey 155 kV HVAC cable system delivered by NKT between 2011 and 2014.
By 2011, TenneT Offshore GmbH had awarded NKT a turnkey contract to supply the Riffgat offshore grid connection’s 155 kV HVAC export cable system, covering planning, manufacturing, installation and final testing of a 48 km cable route with a power rating matching the 108 MW Riffgat offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
