Refuerzo Eléctrico Mediterráneo Occidental (REMO) Spain–Morocco 400 kV HVAC interconnector with three parallel cables over an approximately 31.3 km route (about 29 km subsea, 2.3 km land).
Prysmian Group participated in the Refuerzo Eléctrico Mediterráneo Occidental (REMO) project, the second Spain–Morocco interconnection circuit, working for Red Eléctrica. In a later press release about a different REE interconnection, Prysmian highlighted REMO, together with the Romulo link and the first Spain–Morocco interconnection, as one of several projects already developed jointly with REE. These projects are cited in the context of Prysmian’s turnkey design, supply and installation of high‑voltage submarine cable systems for Mediterranean interconnections, indicating that Prysmian delivered the submarine power cable system for REMO. The REMO link reinforced electricity exchange capacity between Spain and Morocco as part of strengthening the Mediterranean electrical ring. Prysmian’s role was in the construction phase, covering engineering and detailed design of the submarine cable system, manufacture of the high‑voltage power cables, and offshore installation and protection of the link.
