Jan De Nul Group, in consortium with LS Cable & System, was awarded the second of two HVAC export cable contracts for the Princess Elisabeth Island energy island by Elia. Jan De Nul's scope: transport, installation and protection of three 220 kV HVAC subsea cables (165 km combined) between the island and the Belgian coast, including pre-installation seabed levelling using trailing suction hopper dredgers from the Jan De Nul fleet. Vessels deployed: cable-laying vessels Connector and Willem de Vlamingh, plus offshore support vessel Adhémar de Saint-Venant. Installation campaign planned for 2028. The first parallel 165 km HVAC lot was awarded to a DEME + Hellenic Cables consortium (install 2027, separate role). Combined PEI HVAC export scope: 330 km across both lots.
