DEME, as leader of a consortium with Hellenic Cables, was awarded one of the two HVAC export cable contracts for the Princess Elisabeth Island energy island by Elia (part of the €1.5 billion three-contract MOG II award). DEME's scope covers transport and installation of three 220 kV HVAC subsea export cables (165 km combined) connecting the energy island to the Belgian onshore electricity grid. Installation campaign planned for 2027. DEME deploys one of its cable installation vessels alongside trailing suction hopper dredgers and jack-up vessels for the marine works (seabed prep is in-house, not subcontracted). DEME also holds the island civil construction scope as part of the TM EDISON consortium (separate role). The second 165 km HVAC export cable lot was awarded to a Jan De Nul + LS Cable & System consortium (separate role).
