Boskalis Hirdes EOD Services resumed major UXO identification and clearance operations off Zeebrugge to enable safe installation of submarine export cables along the 55-kilometre MOG2 cable route to Princess Elisabeth Island. The scope involves investigating hundreds of seabed targets both nearshore and offshore using vessels including the multitool vessel Manu-Pekka and a dedicated UXO Offshore Support Vessel. The UXO clearance campaign is a prerequisite for the subsequent cable installation campaigns planned for 2027 (DEME/Hellenic Cables) and 2028 (Jan De Nul/LS Cable), ensuring the cable route corridor is safe for cable laying operations.
