On 3 November 2020, HEP ODS’s Elektrodalmacija Split unit, together with subcontractor KRKA SUB MARIS, completed laying a new 35 kV three-core wet-design submarine power cable with EPR insulation and integrated optical fibres between Bogomolje on the island of Hvar and Čaklje in the municipality of Podgora on the Croatian mainland. The continuous 12.26 km cable, weighing about 180 tonnes and manufactured by German company NSW, replaces an older 35 kV cable removed in 2014 and is intended to significantly increase the reliability of electricity supply and support the electrification and development of eastern Hvar.
