In 2013, the Hellenic Independent Power Transmission Operator (HIPTO) completed a socio-economic and financial analysis of the Cyclades interconnection project, which encompasses the Paros–Naxos 150 kV submarine link, estimating a total project cost of €400.17 million with Phase A accounting for €250.13 million and annual operating costs of €1.3 million. The study calculated a net present value of €341–371 million and an internal rate of return of 17.87% over 2017–2038, concluding that the interconnection scheme is a profitable solution for a future integrated, secure and sustainable power system in the area.
