Egmond aan Zee Offshore Wind Farm (OWEZ), a 108 MW demonstration project consisting of 36 × 3 MW turbines located 10–18 km off the Dutch coast near Egmond aan Zee and developed by NoordzeeWind, entered full commercial operation in October 2007 following completion of construction in December 2006 and its official inauguration in April 2007. As the first offshore wind farm in the Dutch North Sea, commissioning in 2007 marked the start of long-term renewable power generation from OWEZ into the national grid.
